The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District and the Freehold Regional High School District both revised their school calendars in November changing Martin Luther King day from a day off to a school day.
Originally, both districts were closed on the national holiday. However, due to the exorbitant number of school closures as a result of Superstorm Sandy, additional school days had to be added to the calendar in order to make sure that the 180 school day requirement is met.
