Manalapan Teacher Named Learning Experience "Teacher of the Year"

Carolynn Meyer of the Learning Experience, located on the border of Freehold and Manalapan, receives top honors.

of Manalapan Township, announced their 2011-2012 Teacher of the Year. Carolynn Meyer, of Ocean, NJ, was awarded the high honor during an announcement at the school’s annual holiday chorale and art auction on December 15, 2011 at the .

Meyer was presented with a plaque, flowers and a package of special amenities and career advancements. Dawn Lego and Karen Rosen, co-owners of the education center, made the announcement and presented the awards. As the Teacher of the Year was revealed, the audience of more than 400 roared with delight in approval of this year’s recipient.

“Carolynn is a very special person and educator,” commented Dawn Lego. “In her acceptance speech she had two modest things to say. The first was to thank her co-teachers, Rita Dushku, and Stephanie LaVecchia, both of Manalapan and then she exclaimed that she loves her work and students. Her soft spoken and humble words truly speak to her character.”

Meyer joins other top educators in this prestigious award including Jessica Higdeon, of Toms River, NJ (2009-2010) and Marissa Rispoli, of Old Bridge, NJ (2010-2011).

“Carolynn is a pleasure to work with,” Hilary Petronzio, Operations Director at The Learning Experience of Manalapan, said. “She is the consummate professional, adored by her students and respected by parents and co-workers. Carolynn is always ‘on’ and gives 1000% every minute of every day”

Meyer has been teaching students age 2 – 3 for more than 12 years. She prepares her young students for pre-school by developing a creative, structured, and fun learning environment.

“The Twaddler age group can be very challenging,” commented Karen Rosen. “Students in this program are flexing their independence yet still require a high level of nurturing, love and attention. Carolynn and her teaching team balance the duty beautifully and instill a love for learning in their pint sized class.”
