The following highlights are submitted by Irene Policastro, the Secretary to Superintendent John J. Marciante of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District.

Algebra Contest

On Monday, April 30th, Algebra students competed in an Algebra Contest sponsored by the Mathematics League. 460 schools across the country competed and this is the first year that they recorded the top 5 scores from each school. The results came back from the Mathematics League and MEMS was in the top 40 schools. We were ranked 32 out of 460. Congratulations to all our Algebra students!

Walk-a-Thon for Charity

MEMS participated in a walk-a-thon event to raise money to help support the fight against multiple sclerosis. The event took place after school on Thursday, May 24, 2012. Students enjoyed hot dogs, lemonade, chips, a raffle, and of course, a fun walk around the MEMS track.

We had over 300 students come out for the event. We raised over $2000 for charity. Every walker received a medal from the National Multiple Sclerosis Society. Relay -4- MS was a terrific event enjoyed by all!

American History

Beta Social Studies students used primary sources on the archives website to rewrite the Declaration of Independence in their own words & were able to actually sign their name to a copy of the Declaration. They also did a project on the Founding Fathers & will be voting for a "Founding Father Idol".
