MERS BOE Approves Garbage Contract Increase

The Early Learning Center was not included in the specifications for the garbage and recycling contract with Future Sanitation.

The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District (MERS) will have to pay an additional $1,170.95 on its garbage and recycling contract with Future Sanitation.

The Board of Education approved the increase on the original $84,000 two-year contract during its meeting at on Tuesday. Business Administrator Veronica Wolf said Future Sanitation received an older specifications sheet from the Manalapan Township Planning & Zoning Department that did not include the John I. Dawes Early Learning Center.

The district participated in the Manalapan Township Cooperative Pricing System, which includes the township, MERS and Manalapan Township Fire District #1, to solicit and receive bids for garbage and recycling collection. The collective bargaining group received four bids, with Future Sanitation coming in the lowest at $2.427 million.
