Manalapan HS Theater to Put On "Lend Me a Tenor" Comedy

The play debuts Thursday, Nov. 29 at Manalapan High School.

The Manalapan High School Theater's fall play is debuting Ken Ludwig's Lend Me a Tenor this week. The zany comedy, set in the 1930s, follows Tito Merelli, a famous Italian opera tenor.

Merelli is hired to sing at a gala fundraiser in Cleveland, Ohio. Before the show even begins, Merelli goes missing due to comical circumstances. The presenter of the show, Saunders, works to cover up Merelli's absence by having his assistant impersonate the opera singer. Saunders also has to deal with Merelli's fiery wife and his crazy fans!

This crazy comedy, which originally debuted in the West End in London in 1986, will be premiering at Manalapan High School in the auditorium on Thursday, Nov. 29 at 7:30 p.m.
