New Principal Named to Manalapan High School

Adam Angelozzi, who was serving as Acting Principal since last summer, is officially the Principal of Manalapan High School.

The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education approved a resolution at their meeting Monday night changing the status of Adam Angelozzi from Acting Principal of Manalapan High School to Principal.

Angelozzi was named Assistant Principal of Manalapan High School during an administrative reorganization in December 2011 that took place while former Principal Jeff Simon was placed on administrative leave during a district investigation of his actions. Prior to that, Angelozzi was the Assistant Principal of Freehold Township High School.

His stint as Acting Principal of Manalapan High School began on July 1, 2012.  As Acting Principal, Angelozzi had a salary of $142,151 through June 30, according to Board minutes from June 25, 2012. As Principal, Angelozzi will be receiving a salary of $152,151, prorated per annum, which went into effect on April 9 and is contractual through June 30.

Angelozzi is replacing Simon, who was terminated from the district. Administrative Law Judge Donald J. Stein ordered that Simon be fired after the tenure charges that were filed against him by the district were upheld in January. The New Jersey State Commissioner of Education Christopher Cerf endorsed Stein's decision to terminate Simon saying he “is not fit to discharge the duties and functions of his position as principal."
