Should New Jersey Schools Prohibit E-Cigarettes?

Sale of alternative smoking device legal to minors.

Promoted as a safe alternative to tobacco-filled cigarettes that don’t harm the body, e-cigarettes are becoming more and more popular–especially with minors.

The new smoking alternative – which offers different flavors – is not illegal to be purchased by minors nor have many school districts denied its presence on school grounds the same way tobacco has been pushed out of schools.

While there’s no smoke in the device, there is nicotine and chemicals that can be found in tobacco products.

In New Jersey, Paramus High School updated its handbook last summer after students were bringing the smoking device to school, according to northjersey.com.

But not all schools have followed suit.

So, should e-cigarettes be allowed at school? Should their sale to minors be legal? Let us know in the comments.

Absolutely! Why should kids be allowed to develop a nicotine habit while in school. Whoever suggested it must have their head where the sun doesn't shine!

Don't smoke anything on school property. Seems like a no brainer to me.

Hmm ... it seems to me that "smoking" has been redefined. Is inhaling any kind of vapor "smoking"?
