TELL US: Should Manalapan-Englishtown Schools be Redistricted?

An overwhelming population of students at Wemrock Brook has caused new first grade registrants from Meadow Creek to attend Taylor Mills School.

Due to the large amount of first grade students registered at Wemrock Brook School, Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Superintendent John J. Marciante announced that new first grade registrations from Meadow Creek will enroll in the Taylor Mills School for the 2013-2014 school year.

According to a letter issued by Marciante, Wemrock Brook School has the largest first grade class size in the district and the school has no additional classrooms available. Therefore, Marciante came up with the solution to have new first grade registrants from the Meadow Creek area attend Taylor Mills School. If a newly registered first grade student has older siblings already attending Wemrock Brook, an exception will be made, Marciante said.

The superintendent said he chose the Meadow Creek area because the largest number of new registrations of first graders has come from that community within the past two years. Thus, when more children register from Meadow Creek over the summer they will be able to be accommodated for at Taylor Mills. These children have the option to stay at Taylor Mills School or transfer to Wemrock Brook for the 2014-2015 school year, if space is available.

Marciante said that he will hold a presentation in September about the large student population of Wemrock Brook Schools and possible solutions on how to resolve the issue for the future. This presentation and discussion will be open to public. The time and location of the meeting will be announced when it is set up.
