The students of Wemrock Brook School have donated the ingredients for a traditional Thanksgiving dinner to local families in need.
Every class in the school collected all components of the Thanksgiving meal, from stuffing, to cranberry sauce, to coffee, over the course of November, according to Wemrock Brook School Assistant Principal Matthew Kriley who organized the fundraiser.
Each class collected about three of each item and the Wemrock Brook School teachers and staff collected turkeys and pies. Fifty boxes of food and 20 turkeys were donated to the Samaritan Center, a local food pantry, and other local charities, Kriley said.
Also the advisor of the student council, Kriley and the council arranged the food for donation after school on Monday, Nov. 19 and the food was collected by the charities on Tuesday, Nov. 20.
Wemrock Brook School Principal Beverly Wilpon also played a key role in the fundraiser, which guarantees that local families in need will be able to enjoy the Thanksgiving holiday!
