Manalapan Braves' Winning Streak Ends in State Final

The Braves, with their powerful runningbacks and wide receivers, were held to just 75 yards against Hunterdon Central.

The Manalapan Braves Football team's winning season came to a disappointing end on a snowy Sunday night at Rutgers Stadium, with a loss to Hunterdon Central in the Central NJSIAA Central Jersey Group V finals.

The final score was 21-0 in the state title game. Shore Sports Network called the loss a "bitter pill" because the 11-0 team had lost its two previous consecutive attempts for a sectional title.

Rutgers recruit and senior wide receiver Saeed Blacknall told the sports news website, “You keep asking yourself, ‘Did I work hard enough?' This is my third time here, third time losing. I can’t even explain the feeling to you right now.”
