Manalapan Senior Athletes Commit to Universities

John Appice is committing to play football for East Stroudsburg; Anthony Firkser commits to play football and basketball for Harvard.

Manalapan High School senior John Appice has signed a letter of intent to play football at East Stroudsburg University. Appice was named to the All Shore team this year, according to Phil Ricci, the Supervisor of Extra-Curricular Activities at Manalapan High School. He was also officially named to the MSG Varsity All Metro Second Team for football in December.

Another high school senior, Anthony Firkser, has signed a letter of intent to play football and basketball at Harvard University. Firkser was named to the All Shore team as a football player in 2013 and recently scored his 1000th point as a basketball player, Ricci said.

When Firkser was a junior he finished with 49 catches for 717 yards and eight touchdowns, according to All Shore Media.

Congratulations to these two great local athletes!
