SJV Football Star of Manalapan Heads to UNH Next Year

A profile of Anthony Pante, a senior wide-receiver at St. John Vianney High School.

resident Anthony Pante, 18, is a senior wide receiver for the St. John Vianney Football team. Pante completed his senior football season with multiple school receiving records including 41 receptions and 1027 yards, according to his father Steve Pante.

Next year, Pante will be joining the Division I Wildcats Football team at the University of New Hampshire. According to his father, Pante dreamed of playing at the Division I level since he played in pop-warner as a child.

"He has been playing football almost since he could walk, and has a great passion for the game," Steve Pante said of his son.

St. John Vianney High School Football head coach Andrew Carlstrom switched Pante over to a passing offense position last season, where he thrived. In a season ending game, Pante scored three touchdowns and earned 170 yards receiving in a game against Matawan which ended with a score of 35-8, according to his father.

This summer Pante will be representing the Shore Conference in the U.S. Army All-Shore football game in July; he is a member of the all-shore academic team, also.
