180 Turning Lives Around Seeks Volunteers for Domestic Violence Response Team

180 Turning Lives Around provides support for Monmouth County victims of domestic and sexual violence.

180 Turning Lives Around is currently recruiting volunteer advocates to serve on the Domestic Violence Response Team (DVRT) and the Borough of Englishtown is looking for anyone interested in volunteering on the team. Volunteer advocates are civilian members of the community who work collaboratively with local law enforcement to provide support and referrals to victims of domestic violence at police headquarters. Any Englishtown or Manalapan resident is encouraged to apply.

180 will be conducting the next 40-hour training course beginning the week of Oct. 1 through the 24, every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at the Neptune City Municipal Court, located at 106 West Sylvania Avenue in Neptune City.

Basic requirements for volunteers to apply include that they must be eighteen years of age or older, have access to reliable transportation, possess a valid driver’s license, participate in an interview process, submit to background investigations and fingerprinting, and successfully complete the mandatory training.  Prior knowledge of domestic violence is not required. The identities of the DVRT volunteers are kept anonymous.  Bi-lingual capability is helpful.

To obtain an application or for more information, contact Tina Morgan at 732-264-4360, ext 4272. The deadline for application submission is Friday, Sept. 20.
