Columbus Day Golf Outing at Knob Hill for Local Charity

The golf outing supports the local St. Vincent de Paul Society.

The St. Vincent de Paul Society of and are holding a golf outing on Columbus Day with all proceeds going to the 501(c)(3) non-profit organization.

"The Society of St. Vincent de Paul offers tangible assistance to those in need on a person-to-person basis," the organization's Web site says. "It is this personalized involvement that makes the work of the Society unique. This aid may take the form of intervention, consultation, or often through direct dollar or in-kind service."

Locally, the society aids the Manalapan-Englishtown area and is an all-volunteer organization. Last year, 38 families within the community that were struggling were helped  by the society. "We helped avoid evictions and utility shut-offs and provided assistance with medical bills," the golf registration form says of their past service. "We spent $31,240 in the process, all because our annual golf outings have given us the finanacial backing we needed. We visit the families in their homes, evaluate their needs and provide the level of support our ministry requires."
