Kids Head Back to School, 9/11 Ceremonies this Week

Government 

The Manalapan Township Committee is meeting on Wednesday in the courtroom of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building. The workshop closed session will begin at 6 p.m. and the public session will begin at 8 p.m. 

At 7 p.m., the candlelight vigil at the September 11 memorial will take place. 

Other government meetings:

• The Shade Tree Commission is meeting on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in room 213 of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building. 
• The Economic Development Committee is meeting on Tuesday at 8 p.m. in room 216 of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building. 
• The Planning Board is meeting on Thursday at 8 p.m.  in the courtroom of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building. 
• The Teen Leadership Committee is meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the downstairs portion of the Manalapan Police Department. 

Schools 

The Freehold Regional High School District and the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District open on Monday. Happy "back to school"!

The Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Board of Education is meeting at the district administration building, located at 54 Main Street in Englishtown, on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. 

Memorial Golf Outing

The Anthony Lombardi Memorial Golf Outing is scheduled for Monday at Knob Hill Golf Club. Lombardi lived in Manalapan for 40 years and was the president of the Englishtown-Manalapan First Aid Squad. For more information, contact Bert Fioto at 732-239-3272 or visit the website www.adayforducky.org.

9/11 Memorials

Manalapan: A candlelight ceremony will take place on Wednesday at 7 p.m. at the Manalapan Township 9/11 Memorial, which is located within the Manalapan Township Arboretum in front of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building. 

Englishtown: The Englishtown Patriots Day Memorial Service will take place on Wednesday in front of the Englishtown Fire Department at 7 p.m. 

Library

The Liberty Oak Chorus will be performing on Wednesday at the Monmouth County Library in honor of Patriot’s Day. The Liberty Oak Chorus will be singing an assortment of patriotic songs acappella in commemoration of the day. The chorus is a local chapter of the non-profit Sweet Adelines International. The concert begins at 7 p.m.
