Cuddly Creatures Animal Rescue and Adoptions is promoting a puppy and kitty this week, and Homeless Animal Lifeline has a myriad of kittens to choose from!
Sue is a 12-14 week old, very unique looking puppy that we took in from a southern high kill shelter! Sue had such a sad look in her eye, that we felt she needed to be a part of this rescue so we could help turn her life around! Sue is now in one of our local foster homes in Freehold, where she is with 3 other dogs, and 3 cats. There is a produce stand at her foster home, so Sue gets to meet all kinds of people all day long, which is helping to really socialize her! She is very friendly and sweet with all she meets, but is still learning manners from the other dogs! Sue is being crate trained, doing well with house training, is learning to walk on a leash, and already knows how to sit since she's been in foster care! She is up-to-date with…
The Safety 1st toilet and cabinet locks were sold at Bed, Bath and Beyond, Burlington Coat Factory, Home Depot, Target and Walmart.
Hundreds of thousands of child safety locks are being recalled because they can fail, exposing children to dangerous situations. The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and Health Canada, in cooperation with Dorel Juvenile Group, Thursday announced a voluntary recall of about 183,000 toilet locks and 685,000 cabinet locks. Young children can unexpectedly disengage the toilet locks and gain access to water in the toilet, posing the risk of drowning, according to the CPSC, and the cabinet locks are being recalled because young children can disengage the lock, posing the risk of injury from dangerous or unsafe items stored in the cabinet. Have you had issues with these locks or others not working? Tell us in the comments below. Consumers …

Looking to avoid the mosh pits, a mom prepares for mega music festival with four teens
Like any good mom, I wanted to give my 15-year-old daughter something she really wanted for her birthday. So what did she want to do more than anything else this weekend to celebrate? Maybe a Broadway show? A Knicks game? A day at a spa? A trip to the beach? She wanted to go to the beach all right - to Bamboozle, the three-day music festival at Asbury Park that is expected to draw 90,000 concertgoers down the shore over the weekend. A few months ago, a concert on the beach sounded like a fun and reasonable thing to do – at least one day of it – so I let her pick a day, and I offered to drive and chaperone. I didn’t really think too much about what I was getting myself into. Now it’s here, and I’m getting bulletins about traffic and how to …

East Coast left out of the major celestial event this time, however
The moon will pass in front of the sun on Sunday, leaving a compelling "ring of fire'' in the sky in the afternoon or early evening a rare celestial not seen in the U.S. since 1994, astronomers say. Only you won't be able to see it. The East Coast will be left out of the eclipse parties being set up in national parks all over the western U.S. because the sun will already have set by the time the eclipse would be visible here. Sorry. A solar eclipse occurs when the moon gets directly between Earth and the sun. Sunday’s event will be an partial solar eclipse across most of the United States and Canada, and a more compelling annular solar eclipse -- the kind with the "ring of fire'' — will be seen by a narrow swath of residents in the West …
