Philip Danze, 83, a 28-year resident of Manalapan, NJ, died in his home, surrounded by his family, on May 18, 2012. Born in Astoria, Queens, he attended New York University in the 1950's, studying under notable luminaries including Nobel Prize winning author, Saul Bellow. Literature remained Philip's life-long passion. An author of novels, short-stories, drama and poetry, he remained an active writer till his final days. His works include the critically acclaimed "Conjuring Maud" published in 2001, "In the Shadow of Lions," "Lucas" and several other novels as yet unpublished. Joseph M. Kelich Jr., 85, of Englishtown, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at home. He was born in Monroe Township and had resided in Englishtown for 49 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He enjoyed woodworking in his shop and was known for crafting windmills. His wife, Betty Kelich, died in 1998. He was also predeceased by a son, Michael Kelich, in 1979. Surviving are a son, Joseph M. Kelich III and his wife, Patricia; a daughter, Debra J. Sneddon and her husband Edward; a sister, Cassy Yuhas; three grandchildren, Joseph, IV, Christopher, and Kaitlyn; and a great-grandson, Aidan. Joseph P. “Matt” Maher, 84, of Manalapan passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Pine Brook Care Center, Manalapan. Mr. Maher was born in New York City and had lived in Brooklyn, NY before moving to Manalapan in 2002. He was the founder and owner of Sign Mart in Brooklyn retiring in 1995.
