Former Manalapan-Englishtown School Bus Driver Dies

Katherine Weeden, of Englishtown, died at 94.

Katherine A. Weeden, 94, of Port Orange, Fl., passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Born in Englishtown, she lived there prior to moving to Port Orange, Fla. 30 years ago. She was a school bus driver for the Englishtown-Manalapan School System. Surviving are her daughters, Lorraine Natalie and Vera Zavada; a daughter-in-law, Roseann Weeden; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Thursday, April 18 at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.

Armetta lived in Manalapan for the past 27 years.

Charles Arthur Armetta, 64, of Manalapan, passed away on Sunday, April 14, 2013, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Brooklyn, he has resided in Manalapan for the past 27 years. He was a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran. Arthur was an automobile service director at Manhattan Lexus and Manhattan Motor Cars in New York City before retiring. He was predeceased by his brother, Peter. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Jane; his two children, Darren Scott and Lauren Paige Armetta; nephew and godson, Peter Armetta; niece, Karen Armetta; and two sisters-in-law, Camille Armetta and Marjorie Baldanza. Laster lived in Englishtown for almost twenty years.

Dorothy M. (Joseph) Laster, 64, of Englishtown, died Wednesday, April 10 at her home. Born in New York City, Laster lived in Bradenton, FL for 20 years and Charlotte, NC before moving to Englishtown in 1994. She was employed for over 20 years as a registered nurse at the Blake Medical Center, Bradenton, FL., where she started the cancer support group and was named nurse of the year. Mrs. Laster is predeceased by her husband Anthony in 2012, her parents Irwin and Dorothy (Smith) Joseph and her nephew Matthew Joseph. Surviving are her brothers Edward of Yonkers, NY and Richard of New Lisbon, NJ, her nephew Clement and her niece Amy. Anna K. Rosella, 91, of Englishtown, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2013. Born in New York, she has resided in Englishtown for the past 65 years. She was a registered nurse at CentraState Medical Center in Freehold for many years before retiring. Anna was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church, Englishtown. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph in 1992. She is survived by her three children, Sharon Lang of Freehold, Janice Elliott of Englishtown and Robert Rosella of Englishtown; her sister, Nancy Getta of Lewes, DE; six grandchildren, Bridget, Larry, Mark, Stacey, Lauren and Kylee; and four great grandchildren, Megan, Daniel, Maycie and Jordyn. Salvatore Bonfiglio, 85, of Manalapan, passed away on Sunday, April 7, 2013, at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold. Born in Brooklyn, NY, he moved to Manalapan 14 years ago. He was a World War II Army veteran. Sal worked on Staten Island, NY for the NYC Transit Authority for many years before retiring in 1986. He was predeceased by his daughter, Toni Spedale, and his brother, John. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Donna; his children, Victor, Joseph, Steven, Antonio, Rachel and Matthew; his brothers, Joseph and Paul; seven grandchildren; three great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Doris W. Cuomo, 81, of Aberdeen, passed away Sunday, April 7 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Elizabeth, Doris lived in Union before moving to Aberdeen 60 years ago. She was employed in her family's business, Manalapan Hardware for 30 years. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her. Doris is predeceased by her beloved husband, Alfonso Cuomo; and her parents, Theodore and Margaret Underwald. Madeline Magliocco, 65, of Manalapan Township, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Friday, March 29, 2013. Born in Manhattan, New York, she lived in Manalapan Township for the past 36 years. Magliocco was a clerk at the Monmouth County Library, Manalapan Township, for the past 15 years. She was predeceased by her father, Fred Caputo, and a sister, Joann Castronuovo. Surviving are her husband, John; two sons, Robert Magliocco, Manalapan Township, and Michael J. Former Manalapan-Englishtown School Teacher Dies at 84

Gnatt worked in the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District for twenty years.

Roslyn Brickman Gnatt, 84, resident of Manalapan, N.J., passed away on Saturday, March 9. Born on Feb. 14, 1929, Roslyn moved to Manalapan with her immediate family in 1969, where she lived for the remainder of her years. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Abner Murray Gnatt R.Ph., CMR for A.H. Robins Company, Inc., in June of 1986. Roslyn began her career as a social worker and later a teacher in inner city Brooklyn. She taught for Manalapan Englishtown Regional School District, earning a service award for completion of twenty years of service on June 7, 1988. In July of 1976, Roslyn received a Supervisor/Principal Certification from the New Jersey Department of Education. She graduated from New York University and held two …

Mary Giglio, 92, of Manalapan Township died Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at home. Giglio was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. She was a seamstress in the garment industry for 32 years before her retirement. Her husband, Sam M. Giglio, died in 1997. She was also predeceased by two daughters, Josephine and Annette. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Frank J. and Eileen Giglio; a daughter, Marion Scafidi; a brother, Sal Cintorino; a sister, Virginia Palotto; seven grandchildren; and nine great grandchildren. The viewing will be held held at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center Street, Freehold on Thursday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
