Police: Two Manalapan Boys Shoot at Others with BB Guns

Four juveniles were allegedly shot at by two other juveniles, police said.

Two Manalapan adolescents were arrested by police for reportedly shooting other juveniles with BB guns on the evening of Monday, May 6 on Wilson Avenue, according to police. The two boys were shooting at four boys with spring loaded plastic pellet guns; three of the boys were struck with the pellets and suffered injury, police said. Englishtown police already apprehended the minors when Manalapan police arrived at the scene. The two boys were arrested, processed, and released to their parents.  Four pellet guns used in the shooting were seized as evidence. This case is currently being reviewed by the Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office.

Bear Sighting Near Battleview Orchards

Second time black bear has been seen in that area recently

A black bear was spotted earlier today at Route 33 and Wemrock Road, police said. Freehold Township Police Sgt. Scott Hall saw the bear walking around near the area of Battleview Orchards and walk back into the woods. State game wardens were notified, Sgt. Jerry Kiwit said.  It was the second time in recent months a bear has been seen in that area, Kiwit said. If you encounter a bear, do not approach it and call police immediately, Kiwit said.

Police Searching For Internet Celeb 'Kai the Hatchet-Wielding Hitchhiker' in Clark Homicide

CLARK, NJ -- Police are on the hunt for an Internet celebrity identified as the suspect in the homicide of Clark resident Joseph Galfy, Jr., 73. Authorities are searching for Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, 24, better known as Internet sensation "Kai the Hatchet Wielding Hitchhiker" on YouTube  and Facebook.   The Union County Homicide Task Force is working with local, state, and federal officials to locate McGillvary, who has been charged with murder. Manalapan Man Indicted on Alleged Heroin Possession at Wegmans

The Monmouth County Grand Jury indicted Paul Pawlik on a heroin possession charge.

Paul Pawlik, 22, of Manalapan was indicted by the Monmouth County Grand Jury this week for allegedly being in possession of heroin on Jan. 20 in Manalapan. Pawlik was arrested at Wegmans by Manalapan police and charged with being in possession of heroin and a hypodermic needle and providing false information to police. The Livingston Lane man has previously been arrested in Manalapan twice before. He was charged with attempted burglary of a Livingston Lane home in December, attempted burglary of a foreclosed Livingston Lane home on March 13, and attempted burglary and theft of an abandoned Livingston Lane home on March 18. An indictment is not a conviction. The formal charges, handed down by the grand jury, will be answered to in court.

Several Cars Vandalized in Manalapan

Be sure to eye your car for damage as three cars parked in Manalapan have been vandalized recently.

The Manalapan Police Department has reported several instances of car vandalism in the township. A 57-year-old woman of Arrowood Road told police that her car was damaged during the overnight hours between April 26 and April 27. The rear view mirrors, rear tail lights, rear bumper, and license plate were all damaged. This incident is pending further investigation by police. Another Manalapan car was keyed and dented while parked in a lot near the home of the owner on Shinnecock Drive. The 54-year-old victim reported the damage to police on Tuesday, April 23. According to police, no other cars parked within the parking lot were damaged. A South Amboy man told police that his Honda Pilot was vandalized while parked in the Sleepy’s parking …

Manalapan Car Fire Prompts Investigation

A car on Elisa Court burst into flames early Monday morning.

A Manalapan car caught fire during the early morning hours Monday have prompted an investigation lead by the The Monmouth County Prosecutor's Office, Acting Monmouth County Prosecutor Christopher J. Gramiccioni said.  The car reportedly ignited at 8 Elisa Court in the township. Manalapan police and fire departments responded to the blaze at 4:11 a.m. after multiple 911 calls were made. The car fire was quickly extinguished and there were no injuries, according to Gramiccioni.  Several residents have mentioned hearing a loud explosion before the car caught fire. Fire at Lexington Drive Home Ruled Accidental

The single resident of the home was able to escape without injury.

An accidental fire ignited at a Lexington Drive home on Tuesday afternoon which seemingly began in the utility room of the home, according to preliminary investigative reports by the Fire Marshall's Office. Manalapan police arrived at the scene around 4:30 p.m. and saw flames and smoke coming from the second story windows of the home. Police and first responders from Gordons Corner Fire Company were unable to extinguish the fire, however, once the rest of the department arrived the fire was doused, according to police. The home was occupied by a retired 82-year-old man who was able to escape the home and sustained no injuries. The man is the only occupant of the home, police said. Manalapan Teen Allegedly Found in Possession of Heroin

Heroin was allegedly found in possession of a Manalapan man.

An 18-year-old Manalapan man was arrested on alleged heroin possession by police shortly after midnight on Thursday, May 2. Sgt. Leonard Maltese and Ptl. Joseph DeFilippis of the Manalapan Police Department responded to Deer Way for a report of a suspicious vehicle. The driver of the vehicle, Salvatore Geloso, was found to be in possession of heroin, according to police. Geloso was arrested by police, processed and released on a summons. His case his pending court.

Manalapan Man Indicted on Aggravated Assault Charge

The Monmouth County Grand Jury indicted Emiliano Aquino for allegedly assaulting someone in Long Branch.

A Manalapan man was indicted by the Monmouth County Grand Jury last week for reportedly committing aggravated assault to another person. Emiliano Aquino, 32, was indicted on one count of aggravated assault for causing bodily injury to another person in Long Branch on December 4, 2012, according to the indictment issued by the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office. The details of the assault were not provided. Aggravated assault is a first degree crime. An indictment is not a conviction. The formal charges, handed down by a grand jury, will be answered to in court.

Attempted Home Burglary, Recent Thefts in Manalapan

$5,000 worth of brass and copper was stolen from a resident's home.

The Manalapan Police have reported one attempted burglary of a home residence and a variety of thefts throughout the township. ------------------------ Burglars were deterred from a Manalapan home after the home alarm was set off during an attempted burglary on Thursday, May 2. Between 2:45 p.m. and 3:15 p.m. someone tried to enter the home by trying to force open the front door, but was unsuccessful. The perpetrator then went to the back of the home, removed the screen of the rear patio window, and pushed in the locked bottom part of the window, which ultimately set off the alarm.
