Greg Baker's seven 3-pointers help Braves slay Academy Charter Panthers 81-55 on Senior Night.
The class of 2011 was determined to make their mark in what may be the last game they ever play together as Braves on the Manalapan High School basketball court. They did just that, slaying the Academy Charter Panthers by a score of 81-55 as they celebrated Senior Night Thursday evening. Co-captains Greg Baker and Kyle Rubbinaccio were responsible for 48 Braves points. Baker sank seven 3-point buckets - with five in the second quarter alone - and finished the night with a total of 25 points. Rubbinaccio fought hard to get to rebounds and came away with a 23 point performance. Matt Pflanzer also had a strong effort, contributing 11 points. Manalapan grabs early lead and lays siege to neighboring Marlboro 68-47. Longtime basketball friends turn foes on court.
MARLBORO - The Manalapan Braves (11-5 overall, 6-4 Class A North) boys basketball team invaded their neighbor's gym and besieged it Thursday evening, running through the Marlboro Mustangs (3-14 overall, 1-9 Class A North) and tearing out a 68-47 victory. Kyle Rubbinaccio snatched the game-high with 23 points. Nicky Krieger launched three 3-point bombs and tallied 11 points on the night. Jon Bobrow led the Marlboro counterattack with 11. The win marked the fourth consecutive victory for the Braves. Rubbinaccio scores game-high 19 points
The Manalapan Braves (9-5 overall, 5-4 Class A North) boys basketball team nearly doubled up on the Middletown South Eagles (1-11 overall, 1-7 Class A North) by a score of 64-39 at Manalapan High School Monday night. Manalapan senior Kyle Rubbinaccio took the game-high with 19 points. Greg Baker added 14 and Anthony Firkser contributed 13 to the Braves totals. James Dzugan led Middletown South with 15.
