Aficiandos of Hess toy trucks can rest assured that Christmas sales of their toy trucks will continue at the corporation's convenience stores.
Recent headlines announcing Hess Corporation's exit from the energy marketing and refining end of its global business will not affect what is perhaps its second-most-coveted consumer item after the petrol: the Hess Toy Truck. "The toy trucks which have been a tradition for 48 years will continue," a Hess spokesperson said, adding that "this November, the company will continue to sell the trucks at their stores." Since 1964, Hess Corporation has sold its classic toy trucks; offering a variety of collectible miniature trucks to consumers at the start of the holiday season each year in November. The Woodbridge-based oil business will now divest itself of 1,350 gas stations, many of which operate in New Jersey and 17 other Eastern Seaboard states.
The familiar green and white Hess signs that dot the Woodbridge landscape and much of New Jersey may soon be no more. Hess Corporation announced Monday in a letter to shareholders at their annual meeting that it was divesting itself of its retail gasoline and convenience store operations, in an effort to restructure the company and improve its balance sheet. The move will affect 1,350 gas stations - many owned by Hess itself - that operate in 18 states on the Eastern Seaboard. The gas stations serve as many as 1.3 million customers a day, according to a report in Supermarket News. Hess did not say when it would begin either closing or selling off its gas stations, although a press release accompanying the news said that their closure, …

The Olde Silver Tavern, which officially closed their doors late last year, still remains vacant on Route 522 in Manalapan Township. With the sign covered and the doors and windows all boarded up, the building stands as a constant reminder that the popular bar and grill no longer exists. The Freehold Borough dance studio, Dancin' On the Edge, is currently in their eighth year of classes.
A Manalapan woman has turned her childhood dream into a reality right in the heart of Freehold Borough. Like most young girls, Erika Aresta-Maiello started dancing when she was 3-years-old. Once she started dancing, she never stopped. She danced in North Jersey and Central Jersey and is still dancing today, but along side young girls with the same dream she once had. “Ever since I was young I wanted to open a dance studio,” said Aresta-Maiello. “After I graduated from community college I opened a studio in Freehold and have been here since 2005.” Aresta-Maiello lives in Manalapan and owns Dancin’ On the Edge. Whole Foods Market, the upscale purveyor of organic and natural products, is coming to Marlboro, at the intersection of Route 9 and Route 520. Ground will be broken in the upcoming weeks on the first store of the Austin-based chain in western Monmouth County. The actual grand opening has not yet been announced. Whole Foods operates 10 other stores in New Jersey, with locations in Red Bank and Princeton. The market will become part of the new 100,000 square foot Marlboro Commons shopping center. Walgreens and PNC Bank will also be occupants of the shopping center. The new Italian restaurant is looking to hire 120 local employees.
The Freehold Raceway Mall will add another delicious option to it’s roster of restaurants this spring. The Brio Tuscan Grille will celebrate its grand opening and start serving upscale affordable Italian cuisine on May 3. The restaurant will feature made-to-order pastas, grilled and oven-roasted steaks, chops and fresh fish as well as delicious entrée salads, flatbreads and bruschettas. They will also offers an extensive brunch menu on Saturdays and Sundays until 3 p.m. in addition to the regular menu.
