Black Labrador Refugee Looking for a Forever Home

A Colts Neck Dentist is trying to help a new friend find a family.

Rocky, like so many, has become a Hurricane Sandy refugee. Drs. Dawn and Alex Rockwell found the black labrador retriever on their property in Colts Neck days after the storm, but have yet to find Rocky's owners. Rocky had no smartchip, no collar and no identification on file.  In a blog post on Patch, the Rockwells said they have notified the Colts Neck Police and local shelters were notified, and now Rocky is staying at a local vet until the young lab can be placed with a new family. "After living with us for 5 days we discovered that he is loving, playful, and smart," the Rockwell's said in their post. "Rocky loves to run and play so a home with large yard is ideal." Monmouth County Celebrates 100 Years of Delicious Orchards

Monmouth County freeholders honored the family-owned business for 100 years of service.

For 100 years, Delicious Orchards in Colts Neck has been an institution in Monmouth County. This week, the Monmouth County Freeholders and local officials came together to celebrate the milestone. “It is a privilege to be in such a wonderful establishment that has gone statewide, yet stayed truly Monmouth County,” Freeholder Director John P. Curley said in a news release. Last year, Delicious Orchards sold 1.2 million doughnuts and more than 200,000 pies, all made from scratch, staying as true to the original recipe as possible. To keep pace with demand, they bought an apple-peeling machine that peels a bushel of apples per minute, according to owner Bill McDonald. Delicious Orchards Remains a Staple in NJ, and Around the Country

Its bakery, fresh produce and apple cider doughnuts have people coming back year after year.

Even if you are not from Monmouth County, chances are you have heard of Delicious Orchards. And if you have been inside, the smell of the bakery and the taste of the fresh produce have likely lured you back. Patrons come from all over the world. Chris McDonald, Vice President and owner Bill McDonald’s son, said he remembers a man from Europe who comes to visit his family in New Jersey and builds Delicious Orchards into his vacation every time. “And some customers travel about an hour weekly,” he said.
