A Pine Street reconstruction project has been approved.
Englishtown is one of 36 municipalities in Monmouth County that will receive a local aid grant from the state government, according to a press release issued by the New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) on Thursday. Local aid grants are allocated to reduce the impact on taxpayers of municipal projects that repair infastructure, advance safety or improve quality of life, the NJDOT explained. Englishtown will receive $160,000 in funds for improvements to Pine Street. The grants are part of a package of 406 local aid grants worth $86.5 million announced for municipalities across the state, according to the NJDOT. The railroad crossings in Englishtown are going to be closed at various times in the next few weeks while Conrail replaces the rails. Englishtown rail crossing closures: The detours will be set up by Conrail and all residents and businesses affected by the closings will be notified by Conrail, as well.

Tennent Avenue (Route 522) will will be closed from Main Street in Englishtown to Tennent Road in Manalapan while it is being resurfaced between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m. from Monday, April 8 through Tuesday, April 16, Monmouth County has announced. The Manalapan Police Department said that the construction is expected to be completed by Thursday, April 11 at the earliest barring no weather delay. The Monmouth County Highway Division will be setting up a detour route and will be notifying residents and businesses that will be affected by milling and paving of the road. The man was a fugitive from justice out of Rhode Island for violating parole for aggravated assault with a handgun; he has been living in Englishtown Borough.
Englishtown police have arrested a fugitive from justice out of Rhode Island who is residing on Tennent Avenue in Englishtown. During a routine motor vehicle stop on Thursday, March 21, Ptl. Scott Zapora learned that the passenger, Anthony Delgatto, 33, was wanted out of Rhode Island on parole violation for aggravated assault with a handgun, Lt. Peter Cooke of the Englishtown Police Department said. The offense occurred on Dec. 8, 2011, according to a police report. Zapora arrested Delgatto and he is currently lodged in Monmouth County Correctional Institute in default of $100,000 bail. His initial appearance in front of Judge Dennis Lavender is scheduled for April 3 at 5 p.m.
