Moses Remains President of HS District Board of Education

Heshy Moses and Jennifer Sutera will remain in their positions as President and Vice President, respectively.

There was not much reorganizing at the Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education Reorganization meeting Monday night, with President Heshy Moses and Vice President Jennifer Sutera remaining in their positions for 2013. Sutera, the Manalapan Township Board representative, nominated Moses for President.  No other nominations for President were made and the Board unanimously voted to approve Moses as President for 2013. Moses, the Board representative from Freehold Borough, has served as the President of the Board of Education since May 2011. Moses, in turn, nominated Sutera to serve as Vice President of the Board. No other nominations were made for the Vice President postion and the Board unanimously voted to approve Sutera …

My theory of the FRHSD BOE in retaining the law services of Schwartz, Simon, Edelstein and Celso: They have pictures of BOE members in compromising positions. What else can account in retaining them. They have been wrong on so many decisions costing the district untold thousands--and we will see how the Simon matter ends--probably in a windfall to the firm, and higher taxes to the taxpayers.   more ›

FRHSD in Good Financial Position, Auditors Say

Only one suggestion was made to the district in the 2012 Financial Report going forward.

The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education approved the 2012’s Comprehensive Annual Financial Report at their meeting Monday. No improprieties were found against the district, but one suggestion was made. Robert Swisher, an auditor from Suplee, Clooney & Company, recommended that a detailed analysis of the balance in the payroll agency account be reconciled to the amount of deposit on a monthly basis. The payroll agency account keeps track of all salary deductions, such as garnishments and pensions. Swisher said that a detailed analysis of this account was not provided monthly, and it should be. Freehold Regional is one of the few school districts within the state of New Jersey that is capable of preparing the annual …

The FRHSD's accounting practices are probably very good. It's what the board allows the administration to do with the money that has been questionable for years.   more ›

FRHSD Adds 4 Days to Calendar Due to Sandy

As of now the state will not consider waiving the 180 school day requirement.

The Freehold Regional High School District Board of Education approved a revised version of the 2012-2013 calendar at a special meeting Monday night which includes four additional school days. The district needs to make up these four days, which were taken off due to Hurricane Sandy, in order to comply with New Jersey’s 180-day school year requirement. “The state at this point in time is not even discussing the potential waiver of the 180-day requirement,” Superintendent Charles Sampson said. Sampson said the subject was broached on a conference call with New Jersey Commissioner of Education Christopher Cerf on Thursday, in which Cerf stated that it is “too premature to have those discussions”. The original school calendar had three “…
