Breakdown of Judge's Ruling Ordering Removal of Manalapan HS Principal

A closer look at how Judge Donald Stein ruled in his initial decision ordering Jeff Simon removed from his post.

Three tenure charges were filed against Manalapan High School Principal Jeff Simon by the Freehold Regional High School District in late February 2012 and the case finally came to a close on January 4, 2013. Administrative Law Judge Donald Stein listened to testimony from 22 witnesses and released an initial decision on Jan. 22 ordering Simon be removed from his position at the high school.  Stein found that Simon was in violation of his tenure for “unbecoming conduct” and “a willful failure to read and follow the applicable polices and procedures.” However, Stein did not find Simon to be unfit to serve in a position of educational leadership, as was asserted by the district. Stein said that Simon had outstanding evaluations and did not …

And for the record, I am not defending the current administration, nor the board, and i have nothing personal against Mr. Simon, but change is needed. This is a school, and we need educators. I'm actually not a fan of the way things are being changed, but I believe that the preview status quo was not an acceptable way to handle an educational institution.   more ›

Simon and Attorney Defend Against Tenure Charges at BOE Meeting

Suspended principal of Manalapan High School, Jeff Simon, and his lawyer took the opportunity to plead their case against the certified filed tenure charges at the last Board of Education meeting.

Suspended Manalapan High School Principal Jeff Simon and his attorney, Stuart Moskovitz, used the public participation portion of Monday's school board meeting to continued his attack on the tenure charges filed against him. Simon said he would use the public portion of the Freehold Regional High School District Board meetings to have his voice heard about the “witch-hunt” against him, because “not a single one of any of the twelve counts is valid, truthful, substantiated with evidence, warranted, legitimate, or reason for tenure charges to be brought against me." After the previous Board meeting, Simon’s 38-page statement of position and evidence, as well as the tenure charges and affidavits were provided to citizens who filed OPRA …

Yes, some don't like the waste of money on the whole thing, but not one comment I have read says he did a bad job. All I read are overwhelmingly positive! These charges ares stupid and obviously politically motivated. The guy has had the job for years and, …   more ›

Simon's attorney has responded saying that nothing in Simon's statement is false.

The Freehold Regional High School District issued a press release on Friday in reference to Manalapan High School suspended principal Jeff Simon's statement of position and evidence. Simon issued the 38-page statement in response to the tenure charges filed against him and the 13 correlating affidavits. The press release alleges that Simon has been circulating his "highly-inflammatory" statement. "Many of the comments and allegations are highly inappropriate and wrongly impugn the credibility of employees in good standing," the release said. "The allegations of misconduct contained in this inflammatory attack do not represent the factual account of events at Manalapan High School.  Based on the facts, the Administration and the Board acted…
