The following highlights are submitted by Irene Policastro, the Secretary to Superintendent John J. Marciante of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District. Student Council Activity Days The Lafayette Mills Student Council organized the following school spirit days to take place on each Friday in the month of December: Holiday Fair The Lafayette Mills PTA hosted a holiday fair for students on Tuesday, December 4th; Monday, December 10th. It was held in main lobby. Students in grades 2-5 shopped for family and friends during their lunch time, while students in grade 1 were scheduled for a time to participate. Read Across America February 27th through March 2nd was an exciting time at Lafayette Mills School as students engaged in a variety of activities in honor of Dr. Seuss’ birthday and to celebrate Read Across America week. Highlighted below is a list of activities students participated in during this week: Basketball Night The teachers and the Lafayette Mills PTA held our annual Basketball Night on Friday, March 2, 2012 at MEMS. The students from grades 1-2 were able to practice skill activities conducted by the MEMS Girl’s Basketball Team and Lafayette Mills teachers. Thank you …

National Geographic Bee Our annual National Geographic Bee was held on January 9, 2012. The fourth and fifth grade students competed in this challenging competition. The students answered questions related to regional, national, and world geography. Parent visitors where afforded the opportunity to observe their children compete. Seeing Eye Dog Assembly for Grades 2 and 4 On Friday, January 13, 2012 grades two and four students learned how Seeing Eye dogs are raised and trained for legally blind individuals.
