Manalapan 2012 Budget Unanimously Passes

The budget sees a $0.06 increase in the tax rate since last year.

Last week, the Manalapan Township Committee officially adopted their 2012 budget which has a tax rate of $0.0339 per every $100 assessed value.  Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen said that a lot of time was spent on the budget and the township looked at lowering the budget even further, but Chief Financial Officer Patricia Addario and the Finance Committee were not comfortable with significantly lowering the budget. Therefore, the budget that was adopted by the Township Committee was the same budget that was introduced last month: a $651,082.03 budget that cut spending by 2.1 percent and a tax levy that increases by $0.06 since 2011. “Except for the public comment here, I have not received any phone calls, e-mails or any comments regarding our …

Manalapan's Presented 2012 Tax Rate to Increase Slightly

Final adoption of the budget has been moved to Wednesday, May 9.

The Manalapan Township 2012 Municipal Budget was presented to the public at last week’s meeting, but not adopted as scheduled because the Division of Local Government Services Budget Review had not yet been filed. The approximately $30M budget will be up for adoption at the next Township Committee meeting on Wednesday, May 9. Even though the committee did not yet adopt the budget, which calls for a 2 cent per $100 tax rate, Township Administrator Tara Lovrich conducted a presentation on the budget to the public, which is available for viewing at the Manalapan Township Web site. The municipal tax rate has increased 0.007 cents, Lovrich said, indicating that state aid has gone down. Appropriations and shared services have gone up, however, …

The residents have to take their own brush to public works, they only pick up once a year unless there is a storm. They do not clean the streets even though they have a street cleaner sitting idle and according to the above people they are not even cleaning township property which I would …   more ›

Manalapan Tax Rate to Increase 0.6 Cents if Proposed Budget Passes

The Manalapan Township Committee introduced their 2012 budget, which sees a 2.1 percent cut in spending and 0.6 cent tax rate increase.

Last night the Manalapan Township Committee introduced their 2012 budget, which cut spending by $651,082.03, or a 2.1 percent decrease since last year, but will still cause a minimal increase to taxpayers.
