Fire at Lexington Drive Home Ruled Accidental

The single resident of the home was able to escape without injury.

An accidental fire ignited at a Lexington Drive home on Tuesday afternoon which seemingly began in the utility room of the home, according to preliminary investigative reports by the Fire Marshall's Office. Manalapan police arrived at the scene around 4:30 p.m. and saw flames and smoke coming from the second story windows of the home. Police and first responders from Gordons Corner Fire Company were unable to extinguish the fire, however, once the rest of the department arrived the fire was doused, according to police. The home was occupied by a retired 82-year-old man who was able to escape the home and sustained no injuries. The man is the only occupant of the home, police said. Fire Breaks Out in Laundry Room of Manalapan Home

The fire was knocked out quickly; no one living in the home or fire personnel were hurt.

This story has been updated as of Friday, Jan. 4 at 5 p.m.: A fire broke out on the first floor of a two-story home on North Parsonage Way  Friday afternoon that was quickly knocked out. The fire ignited in the laundry room and did not extend to any other rooms, according to Manalapan Township Fire Company #1 Fire Chief Ryan Perrone. Manalapan Township Fire Company #1, the Englishtown Fire Department, and the Gordons Corner Fire Company all responded to the scene along with patrolmen from the Manalapan Police Department. The home is owned by Charles Marchese, according to New Jersey Tax Records. No one was hurt in the fire, although family members were home at the time that it ignited.
