Week Ahead: Town Hall Meeting Wednesday

Check out what is going on in Manalapan and Englishtown this week.

A Manalapan Town Hall meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, May 22 at the Covered Bridge Clubhouse at 8 p.m. Come discuss your issues or pose a question to Mayor Susan Cohen and at least one Township Committee member. The Englishtown Borough Council is meeting on Wednesday, May 22 at the Englishtown Municipal Building at 6:30 p.m. The Planning Board was originally scheduled to meet in the courtroom of the Manalapan Municipal Building on Thursday, May 23, but that meeting has been cancelled. Week Ahead: Manalapan Budget Up for Adoption

Check out what is going on in Manalapan and Englishtown this week.

Government The Manalapan Township Committee is meeting on Tuesday, May 14 at 8 p.m. in the courtroom of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building. The overview of the  2013 municipal budget and the public hearing on it will take place  at this meeting. The resolution for adoption is also on the agenda. The meeting was originally scheduled for Wednesday, but was switched to Tuesday because not all Committee members could meet on May 15. For the full agenda, click here. 200 Additional Commuter Parking Spaces Available

The parking lot of the Monmouth Heights Community Association swim club will be used for commuter parking.

The Manalapan Township Committee has authorized an agreement with the Monmouth Heights Community Association for the lease of the association swim club parking lot for the use of commuter parking. The lot, located on Ryan Road, will provide 200 additional parking spots for commuters. This will help the Township reduce the commuter parking wait list, Deputy Mayor Jordan Maskowitz said. Week Ahead: Manalapan HS "Evening of the Arts"

Government Meetings   School Events Manalapan High School third marking period grades will be posted on Tuesday, April 30. Manalapan High School will be hosting an evening of music, visual art, fashion, poetry, and performing. The “Evening of the Arts” will take place between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m.; light refreshments will be served. The jazz band and visual arts displays will be showcased at 5 p.m., poetry and one act plays will be performed in room A111 from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the choir and band will perform in the auditorium at 7 p.m. Manalapan-Englishtown Middle School is having four hour days for Parent Teacher Conferences on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday this week. Manalapan Teen Leadership Committee Collects Supplies for SPCA

The pet supplies drive will be held on Saturday, April 27.

If you have any extra pet supplies lying around, consider donating them to animals in need. The Manalapan Township Teen Leadership Committee will be holding a "Pet Supplies Drive" this Saturday, April 27 between 9 a.m. and noon to benefit the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA). Items being collected include: A collection box will be located in the lobby of the Manalapan Township Municipal Building and will be labeled for the pet supplies drive.

Manalapan Online Auction of Surplus Goods

The online auction of excess items begins on May 6.

Manalapan Township will conduct an internet online action with Alfred’s Auction, Inc. for surplus goods starting on Monday, May 6 at 9 a.m. with a closing date of Monday, May 13 at 5 p.m. Surplus equipment and items being liquidated include: Items may be viewed in person in the yard of the Department of Public works on Friday, May 10. Please visit www.alfredsauctions.com  starting Monday, May 6 at 9 a.m. to begin bidding on the items.

UPDATE: Water Main Break Closes Tennent and Taylor Mills Intersection

Police expect this to be a long duration project and the intersection is not passable.

A water main break on Tennent Road south at Sandybrook Road has caused an emergency road closure Friday morning, according to Manalapan Police Captain Michael Fountain. As of Friday afternoon, the entire road is closed at the intersection of Taylor Mills Road and Tennent Road. Fountain said that there is no way to pass this intersection from any direction, so it is advisable to stay away from the area. This is expected to be a long duration project, so please follow the detours or come up with an alternate route.

Union Hill Road Closed for Repavement Through Friday

The road will be repaved between Wild Turkey Way and Pease Road.

Starting Tuesday, April 9, Union Hill Road will be closed between Pease Road and Wild Turkey Way for repaving, according to Manalapan Township Police Chief Chris Marsala. The repaving will close the road through Friday, April 12. Doesn't our mayor live off Union Hill Road. When are they going to repave Monmouth Heights especially the streets off Ryan Road. When Verizon dug up our streets a couple of years ago and did not properly fix them, we were left with potholes. Last year they were fixing the sewers ( they did it twice) and they did not put the asphalt back properly. They all need to be replaced . Also,,why are …   more ›
