Lacrosse Program Loses Travel Team in Town Takeover

The Manalapan Recreation Department terminates its partnership with Nomad Lacrosse and says most travel team members were not township residents.

The Manalapan Recreation Department terminated their outside partnership with Nomad Lacrosse in the beginning of the year, including their travel program, due to inadequate funds from the program and because the majority of the children on the travel team were not Manalapan residents, which violates Township law. While the Hall of Fame has existed in Manalapan for many years, new inductees have not been added since 2001 when the Recreation Commission came to an end. The Hall of Fame recognizes local volunteers who dedicate their time to Parks and Recreation Programs or at the Recreation Department and this is one of the few ways the Township can thank those volunteers, Cholowinski said. Since the Hall of Fame has been on a hiatus, Cholowinski said that she wanted to…

Do we not think that charging an adult non resident for tennis lessons $40 more than the $85 that we charge for residents is wrong. We should allow residents to sign up first and then if there is availability, the non- residents. We should not fleece the public, $10 ok, but $40 is outrageous. That is how we get a terrible reputation and then no one will want to come here. Start thinking about the…   more ›
