An overwhelming population of students at Wemrock Brook has caused new first grade registrants from Meadow Creek to attend Taylor Mills School.
Due to the large amount of first grade students registered at Wemrock Brook School, Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District Superintendent John J. Marciante announced that new first grade registrations from Meadow Creek will enroll in the Taylor Mills School for the 2013-2014 school year. According to a letter issued by Marciante, Wemrock Brook School has the largest first grade class size in the district and the school has no additional classrooms available. Therefore, Marciante came up with the solution to have new first grade registrants from the Meadow Creek area attend Taylor Mills School. If a newly registered first grade student has older siblings already attending Wemrock Brook, an exception will be made, Marciante said. The…

Katherine A. Weeden, 94, of Port Orange, Fl., passed away on Sunday, March 24, 2013. Born in Englishtown, she lived there prior to moving to Port Orange, Fla. 30 years ago. She was a school bus driver for the Englishtown-Manalapan School System. Surviving are her daughters, Lorraine Natalie and Vera Zavada; a daughter-in-law, Roseann Weeden; 11 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; and three great- great-grandchildren. A Memorial Service will be held at noon on Thursday, April 18 at the Higgins Memorial Home, 20 Center St., Freehold. Interment will follow at Old Tennent Cemetery, Tennent.

Wemrock Brook’s Talent Show On March 21, Wemrock Brook’s third through fifth graders presented a talent and entertainment show directed by Ms. Lewis and Ms. Richard. Taylor Mills School kicked off the month of March with our Read Across America celebration. On March 1, Mrs. Anzalone, our media specialist, created a wonderful school-wide assembly in conjunction with several of our teachers with the theme, “Grab a Hat and Read with the Cat!” The school-wide celebration consisted of student readers and special guest readers including Mr. Strumwasser and our former media specialist, Mrs. Joan Brady. National History Day On March 3, our students competed in the regional competition for New Jersey History Day. This year's National History Day theme encouraged students to identify the "Turning Points in History." Our students investigated topics of their choice to create websites, performances and exhibits. After months of evaluating primary sources, scheduling interviews with eyewitnesses, and organizing information, they were ready to display their work. Character Education The ELC continued its “Paws-itive Behavior Program.” Mrs. Fabiyan, our replacement guidance counselor, held mini-assemblies to introduce the kindergarten students to the ELC’s new character critter. The students met Carrie the Caring Cat and listened to a story about her. The children learned that being caring includes the following: Posters of Carrie the Caring Cat and the list of caring traits are hung around the school. Doodle 4 Google Contest Students in all grades participated in the Doodle 4 Google 2013 design contest. Google does a contest for children each year to design a new logo for their website. Each year they have a different theme, and this year it was, "My Best Day Ever...” This year, we had 85 entries, and the top 10 students had their artwork sent to Google to be entered into the state contest. All of the designs were fantastic, and it was really hard to decide who had the top 10 designs! Winners received a certificate and a large set of markers. We also honored five honorable …

Agree with Jessica - especially when an older sibling has gone through Wemrock and parents have been involved with pta etc, now younger siblings are possibly too young to be grandfathered. Not ideal and Meadow Creek parents are not happy.   more ›
