Politician Visit The short month of March did not stop the staff and students at Milford Brook from accomplishing much! The month kicked off with a very special event on March 4. On this Monday, Assembly Robert Clifton (Legislative District 12) made a visit to the students of Milford Brook School in the Manalapan-Englishtown School District. Assemblyman Clifton read about the many charitable contributions being made to local communities and felt these students and staff needed special recognition. The following highlights are submitted by Irene Policastro, the Secretary to Superintendent John J. Marciante of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District. The short month of February seemed to fly by for the staff and students of Milford Brook School. Students worked hard as they went through their second round of Link-it testing. Staff and students are eager to see meaningful data on just how much students have grown between October and February of this year. Physical education teachers, Mrs. Akins and Mrs. Regino, were as busy as ever with their Jump-a-Thon competition. Students had a great time competing in front of the judges with their classmates to see who had the best jump rope routine. Many students could jump rope for …

January proved to be another busy month at Milford Brook School. Our third grade students enjoyed the wonderful and educational “Grandfather Turtle” assembly where they learned about Native American history and tradition. A special congratulations is in order for 4th grader Austin from Ms. Fischler’s class! Austin competed against the 4th and 5th graders at Milford Brook and on Jan. 11 became the Milford Brook Geography Bee Champion! Greetings and happy new year from the Milford Brook School family! The end of November and the short month of December proved to be very busy and productive for the Milford Brook students and staff. On November 28th, the second graders were able to experience the “Bee Man Assembly,” a highly educational and engaging presentation about the importance of bees to our ecosystem. By the end of the assembly everybody was participating, including staff, students, and parents! The Milford Brook School family wishes all families impacted by Hurricane Sandy warmth and encouragement as we move forward together as a community. Despite the challenge of the storm, October was productive for the students of Milford Brook. Our “Week of Respect” went very well and included a motivational assembly on how to address bullying as a student in Milford Brook. Ms. Glass had a “Week of Respect” poster contest. Field Trips and PTA Cultural Arts Assemblies First graders traveled to Von Thun’s farm to learn about and study plants on Friday, May 25th. We have many future gardeners and farmers in our midst! Second graders were treated to a fun-filled day with the “Bee Man.” This annual assembly is one of the most highly anticipated events in second grade. The “Bee Man” is a hands-on, interactive experience during which students learn how bees make honey and their impact on our environment. It is a culmination of the study of life cycles. Read Across America Celebration Milford Brook School celebrated Read Across America Day and our students’ love of reading on Thursday, March 1st. First and second grade students were surprised by a visit from The Cat in the Hat and Kidsville News mascot, Truman. Both magically appeared during our readers’ celebration in the Media Center! The first and second graders paraded around the school with both The Cat and Truman visiting with our third, fourth and fifth grade students. Marciante of the Manalapan-Englishtown Regional School District. “Grandfather Turtle” Visits with Milford Brook Students Third graders were treated to an amazing interactive children’s theatre production entitled, “Grandfather Turtle” on Friday, Jan. 6. The students spent the morning learning about the Native Americans’ respect for and interactions with “Mother Nature” and planet Earth, and then came together to perform in a play, which served as a culminating activity.
