Feb. 1 Named 'National Wear Red Day for Women' in Manalapan

Support women and the fight against heart disease by wearing red on Friday, Feb. 1 in Manalapan Township.

Manalapan Mayor Susan Cohen proclaimed Feb. 1 “The National Wear Red Day for Women” in the Township of Manalapan. All residents are urged to show their support for women and the fight against heart disease and stroke by by wearing the color red in commemoration of this day. “By increasing awareness, speaking up about heart disease and stroke, and empowering women to reduce their risk for cardiovascular disease, we can save thousands of lives each year,” Cohen said. Cardiovascular disease claims the lives of more than 420,000 American females each year, which equals about one death per minute. Each year, 52 percent of all deaths due to cardiovascular disease and 60 percent of stroke deaths occur in females, Cohen said in her official …
