Middletown South High School defeated the Braves in girls varsity basketball on Saturday, Jan. 28, the Star Ledger has reported. The score was 76-53. According to the Star Ledger, Stephanie Karcz and Olivia Liskowitz added 21 points and 14 points respectively to the game. Middletown South had a strong second half where they outscored Manalapan for the ultimate win. Sierra Lawson and Kelly McNulty of Manalapan scored 12 points and 10 points respectively for Manalapan, the Star-Ledger said.

Manalapan's property tax bills remain less than the state average and the township's tax increase from 2011 to 2012 was 0.5 percent less than the state average. The $7,593.95 for Manalapan Township was less than the statewide average of $7,870.28 and the property taxes increased in the township 1.2 percent from 2011 to 2012, according to a Star-Ledger analysis. Property tax bills actually decreased in 117 municipalities, and remained flat in 4 others.
