Special “Family Reunion” Wawaversary to be held in Manalapan.
The 30th anniversary of the Manalapan Wawa located at 364 Route 9 North is on Tuesday, May 7. To honor this special anniversary and to celebrate Wawa’s dedication to its Manalapan family, Wawa is hosting a family reunion-style in-store celebration that will take place on the same day. The 30th family reunion anniversary celebration will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday, May 7. During the festivities, Wawa will toast the generations of customers and associates for their friendship and business throughout the years, through free coffee all day. The man found the card at Wawa and then used it to purchase gift cards days later, according to police.
The Manalapan Police Department has charged Richard Hartley, of Monroe Township, with credit card theft and fraudulently using a credit card in Manalapan on December 30, 2012. Hartley, 51, allegedly used a stolen credit card to purchase a $100 Lowe’s Gift Card at the Wawa convenience store located on Union Hill Road. Then, he reportedly charged another $489.95 in gift cards and another $200 in Lowe’s gift cards to the credit card at the same location, according to the arrest warrant, a few minutes later. Manalapan police said that Hartley found the credit card at the Wawa convenience store on Dec. 26, four days prior to using it fraudulently. Manalapan's new Super Wawa, located at the intersection of Woodward Road and Route 33, is holding their grand opening on Friday, Feb. 15 at 10 a.m. The opening will focus on supporting the community and the continuing Sandy rebuilding efforts at the Jersey Shore. The road improvements are a result of the new Super Wawa construction.
Woodward Road will be closed again on Friday, Dec. 14 due to road improvements related to the new Super Wawa. The road was first shut down on Wednesday, Dec. 12. The section of the Woodward between Route 33 and Daum Road will be closed from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The detour route is below and the map of the route is attached to this article. Detour Route: Drivers traveling westbound on Route 33 wishing to turn onto Woodward Road will be detoured to Route 527 and then directed to turn right onto Daum Road. At the end of the Daum, drivers will be able to turn left onto Woodward and continue on their planned route. If you are wondering what is being built at the corner of Route 33 and Woodward Road - the rumors are right - a full-service Wawa gas station and convenience store is currently being constructed. The establishment will be open 24-hours a day. The application for this project was presented to the Manalapan Township Zoning Board in 2005, but construction did not commence until several months ago. The Zoning Board approved the application with thirteen variances. The intersection will be widened, at the expense of the contracting company.
