Matlosz Killer Indicted in Another Murder

Jahmell Crockam, sentenced to life in prison in the murder of Lakewood police officer Christopher Matlosz, has been indicted in the October 2010 killing of Justin Williams

Nearly two years after Justin Williams was killed and his body left on a Lakewood street, three men have been indicted in connection with his murder, including the man convicted for the killing of Lakewood police officer Christopher Matlosz. Jahmell W. Crockham, 21, who was sentenced in February to life in prison after he was convicted of murdering Matlosz, was indicted Thursday by an Ocean County grand jury on one count of first-degree murder, and second-degree counts of unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, in the shooting death of Williams. Crockam Found Guilty Of Murder in Matlosz Cop Killing

Jahmell Crockam convicted of killing Christopher Matlosz, a former Englishtown police officer, after day of jury deliberations.

Jahmell Crockam was found guilty Thursday in the murder of a Lakewood police officer who was among the first in Ocean County's history to die by gunfire. Before serving in Lakewood, Matlosz served for the Englishtown Police Department. Kelly Walsifer, fiancee of slain Lakewood police officer Christopher Matlosz, cried as the jury announced that Crockam was guilty of murder and weapons charges. Crockam, showing little emotion, was then handcuffed and led out of Superior Court Judge Wendel E. Daniels' courtroom. Crockam will be sentenced in Daniels' courtroom on March 22. Jury selection in the murder trial will begin early next year

The trial of the man accused of killing a Lakewood police officer in January will begin early next year, according to Deputy Chief Michael Mohel of the Ocean County Prosecutor's Office. Mohel said that jury selection in the trial of Jahmell Crockam, the 19-year-old Lakewood man accused of killing Lakewood police officer Christopher Matlosz, 27, of Manchester, will begin the week of January 16, 2012. Crockam, also known as "Sav," allegedly shot the officer on Jan. 14 during what authorities described as a routine stop in Lakewood. The suspect was captured in a Camden apartment by a high-risk entry team two days later.
