That's really gratifying to know that there was more than one person that cared so much to stop and help rescue these girls. I had self-published this blog before the other man's name was widely known. I think it's really fitting that his name is "Angel". :)

ReplyPiloboys, that's really admirable of you to give it your all. I appreciate your feedback and opinions. You are right , the golden rule applies here, I think. Treat people how you would want to be treated. Even in situations where I may have had a server who was having an off day, I never left without tipping. I know that I wouldn't want to be penalized for being human.
Rachel and Jena, I think feedback from customers is important in any industry. That's why rating services such as Yelp, Zagat, Open Table, etc. are helpful to people. They are reviews written by customers. If restaurants and those in the food service business wrote their own reviews, everyone would be four-star. There's always good, better, and best. I'm very glad that people do not keep their opinions to themselves.
Hz1973, You are correct - overworking staff in any situation does take it's toll on people, too. That's actually a great point that you make, and it's good to make sure as much as possible that there are enough people on the schedule so everyone can take breaks.

ReplyI always enjoy when people leave comments. Thank you for doing that. :) This is definitely not meant as a personal attack on anyone. Of course there are very experienced people in the industry who are very attentive and skilled at what they do. I've had excellent service at many restaurants, hotels, and bars. Those people who have really put their heart and soul and attention into what they do are amazing. Working as a bartender or waiter is a hard job; but I'm sure that everyone has experienced bad service at some point in their lives. It's a difficult thing to have that kind of conversation with a bartender or waiter at the time that it's happening to explain why you are frustrated that your drink order is wrong, or that interrupting conversation too often is bothersome. And maybe, some people don't realize why they didn't get a tip (I always tip, but do tip more than the "required" amount if the service is excellent.). Maybe someone is new to the industry and wasn't aware there were some apps out there that are actually very helpful for inspiring drinks or listing ingredients for them.
I think anyone who has ever ordered food, drink or dined out can offer helpful suggestions and also relate the things they enjoyed about their experiences. I would never be embarassed to share my experiences and suggestions. No one should be. There is the good, as well as the not so good. Sharing what people think is always a good way to improve the outcome.

Jean, thank you for taking the time to comment here and on my personal website. I read your comments in both places. (I read everyone's comments. I enjoy discussion and listening to what others have to say.)
I enjoyed reading your personal story, too.
I, too, believe that there is free will and evil in this world, and God can not be blamed for all. However, sometimes He (or fate) provides a little help along the way through others or signs, and we have a choice to respond to that, or not. I'd rather embrace those signs along the way that tend to stand out in my mind as more than just coincidence, and be thankful for them, rather than dismissive. I think He (or fate) tries to get our attention sometimes without scaring us, but using what most people call coincidence as a tool. That's really what the book I mentioned explains very well. You might enjoy reading it, if you have not.
It's nice to know He cares enough to intervene when He can for the purpose of good. Maybe it's not on our timetable, but that could be for reasons we don't understand. Why evil can not be prevented in the first place is also something that is hard for us to understand. I can not wrap my mind around why evil exists, but it must take an awful lot to battle it. Any help we can get along the way is something I would accept.
